WELCOME TO BOSCO DI MUDONATO FARM HOLIDAYS IN THE HEART OF SALENTO

On our country estate, you can find an ancient fortress dating back to xvi century which offers accomodation in large apartments of 100 sq metres reconstructed from the castle’s ancient stables and strictly restored to maintain the original barrel and cross vaulted ceilings.
The apartments are tastefully furnished with solid wood and wrought iron.
They offer accommodation for up to 6 people and are extremely comfortable:
large separate entrance halls, with ample and well equipped kitchens, double bathrooms, ancient shepherds fireplaces, air conditioning (cold-warm), tv, washing machine, wide open spaces in the outisde courtyard with grass and garden furniture.
The nearest village of avetrana is 3 km away and the outstanding beaches only 7 km.

THE COUNTRY ESTATE

The country estate of bosco di mudonato is 40 hectares and extends on the plain, covered with 7.000 century olive trees under intensive cultivation and specialized irrigation equipment. The olives are grown on the trees and picked during the autumn season.
In winter you can assist in the pruning cycles of olive trees, to the sowing season, to the flock passages over the land.
Tracts of olive groves, interrupted by the mediterranean scrub, enclosed by dry-stone walls, of which traces and remains go back to the cretan art on stone usage.
Twisted and aged old trees enclose the fortress with white boundary walls, a landscape full of elementary contrasts, stone and grass, trees and rock, dazzling sunshine and rich green.

THE WOOD

The wood is in the middle of the estate and is part of a nature reserve and landscape protected area, in which oaks, holm-oaks and the mediterranean scrub mix creating thick vegetation and offering magnificent shade and fresh cool relief during the summertime.
You have free time to wander on foot and go in search of mushrooms and asparagus, blackberries and wall rocket, chicory and aromatics herbs.
Delicious cyclamens stud the wood in wintertime.
Jogging and birdwatching are the ecological sports, especially in springtime and autumn.
The local rural cooking reflects the taste of this nature:
peasant artichoke soups, greens picked up in the wood, vegetables, cheese and ricotta from the shepherd, ewe’s milk, wild prickly pears and wood’s fruit jams, lamb and kebabs of shepherd meat, legumes, vegetables, bread and durum wheat pasta, country tomatoes and lots of grapes.

THE JONIO SEA

The jonio sea is one of the more uncontaminated in the mediterranean sea. Kilometres of beaches with sand dunes and mediterranean scrub are only 7kmby car from the estate and offer a wide variety of options for visiting:
small and big creeks, little tourist harbours, sea villages, rocky coasts.
The pictures shown on this web site show the punta prosciutto creek which is very close to the bosco di mudonato estate and in which the crystal-clear water is a unique shade of turquoise.
The sand dunes are pure white and immaculate and you have the double option to go to the free beaches or to the lidos.
Points of free access to the beach are very frequent along the full length of the creek.
Punta prosciutto still holds that untouched nature aspect, with wild trees freely growing in the sand and where the water is so clean and transparent that you can see little shimmering fishes and polyps on the seashore.
For people who love sailing and under water fishing, the santa caterina yachting club offers various opportunities and courses.
